Introducing: The Flatfile

Sarah designed and built this beautiful flatfile several years ago, and it has provided the perfect home for our collection of screenprints, found art, paper scraps, and other printed materials.

The exterior of birch ply houses four archival canvas shelves. It has a large door that’s hinged on the bottom and swings open, providing full access to all shelves at once. It’s big. And heavy. We’ve moved with it twice, lugging it up and down three flights of stairs. Each time we move with it, I find more old posters that I’ve forgotten about and swear that I’m going to get them framed soon, which is how this idea came about.

The Flatfile will serve as an online archive of it’s contents – both to better keep track of and to share the contents with others. Here is the first collection of images. I’ll add details to each as I go, and expect more posts daily. Enjoy!

Amazing! I’ve had the same idea floating around for the past year or two - but haven’t taken the time to flush it out. Looking forward to spying on your goods.

The Flatfile

The Flatfile is just that – a digital archive of what's in my flatfile. Mostly so I can keep track of it, but also so others can take a look too. Inside you'll find everything from screenprinted posters I've collected, to random paper scraps and found materials.
