I love Instagram

I’ll be totally honest… when I first heard of Instagram I hated the idea of it. Who needs stupid filters to to make their iPhone photos look better? Another social network? Really? Despite being skeptical I decided to give it a try and was quickly hooked.
I came to discover the content and point of view on Instagram is highly entertaining and intriguing. While typically reserve my Flickr photo stream for larger collections of photos, I like that Instagram provides a place to share quick moments of daily life. I love getting a quick peek into someones day, what they’re seeing and what they’re doing. Each photo that is posted is unique and original to it’s owner (for the most part – there are always exceptions). I love that Instagram provides what feels to be a highly curated social media experience, which is a nice change from the barrage of content that comes through Facebook and Twitter these days.
I think it’s fair to say that Instagram is now my favorite social network, hands down. If you haven’t given it a try I highly recommend you do. You can find me on there @sagebrown.
New Work – Build-it!

Here’s a quick look at the new site I just launched for Build-It! Discs, which are a really cool new product from my friend Alex at Public Workshop. The site makes use of some CSS3 and a little jQuery action, both of which add some nice simple effects for your viewing pleasure.
We’ve got a few other fun projects in the works, so stay tuned. In the meantime, check out the Build-It! site.
Enjoy!
Dancing Dog Tees

I just got these stamps and tags in for one of my latest projects. I had the opportunity to create the identity for this client from the ground up, and it’s super exciting to see it all coming together! I’ll have a full post on this project coming soon.
If you don’t follow me on Dribbble head over there to take a look at a few earlier versions of this identity.
Introducing: The Flatfile

Sarah designed and built this beautiful flatfile several years ago, and it has provided the perfect home for our collection of screenprints, found art, paper scraps, and other printed materials.
The exterior of birch ply houses four archival canvas shelves. It has a large door that’s hinged on the bottom and swings open, providing full access to all shelves at once. It’s big. And heavy. We’ve moved with it twice, lugging it up and down three flights of stairs. Each time we move with it, I find more old posters that I’ve forgotten about and swear that I’m going to get them framed soon, which is how this idea came about.
The Flatfile will serve as an online archive of it’s contents – both to better keep track of and to share the contents with others. Here is the first collection of images. I’ll add details to each as I go, and expect more posts daily. Enjoy!
And we’re live!
Well, it’s been a long time coming, but here we are. Welcome to my new site! I’m very excited to have it up and running. There are still some things in the works, and there may still be a few bugs. Over the next few weeks I’ll be adding some more pieces and expanding on some projects as well. If you notice anything strange, let me know!
I’m excited to have an easy way to update my work regularly, and I plan to ‘blog’ as much as possible here as well. Everything from project process, recipes, or random tech bits will be posted here in the Notes. Over the next few weeks I’ll be adding some bells and whistles throughout, along with some proper categories, an RSS feed, and an easy way to search the archives… well, once there actually are some archives.
This new site is powered by Expression Engine, Typekit, and some good ol’ HTML and CSS. I had a lot of fun making it, and learned some neat tricks along the way, so look for a post soon that shows a little of the behind-the-scenes here.
In the meantime, take a look at my work, leave a comment, and have a nice day!
